This is the last blog post of 2019! It’s crazy to think that in two days it will be 2020. Are you ready for it? The best way to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new one is by making the most of the time we have. This week, there are many New Year’s parties going on in Champaign-Urbana as well as other fun events to make sure you start 2020 on the right foot. Let’s get started with all that is going on this week in town!
Monday, December 30th
If you need a laugh to get you through the post Christmas blues, stop by Blind Pig tonight for their comedy open mic! This is the only place in Champaign to see late night stand up. The comedy starts at 11 p.m. and stops when the jokes run out. Blind Pig will have a few drink specials to check out like $1 PBRs and $2 Jamesons, so be sure to stop by for a fun time! This event is free! Click here for more information.
Tuesday, December 31st
Guido’s is one of the many places to find a party for New Year’s Eve. Here, see Carnivale Debauche's Roaring 20's New Year's Eve show. Of course 2020 would have a few parties with a 1920’s theme, and I’m so here for it. Carnivale Debauche is a burlesque troupe in Champaign, who will definitely put on a great show for the evening. The performance is from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, with a champagne toast to bring in the New Year. There will be a DJ playing all your favorites until 2 a.m. Buy your tickets early and save money. They are $15 presale and $25 at the door. Click here to learn more!
Wednesday, January 1st
Start 2020 with your favorite Mexican food at Maize! Maize at The Station will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will be serving up some special options for New Year’s Day. Their Dia De La Cruda specials include brunch options and Menudo, Pozole, and Carne en su Jugo bowls! See their full menu here.
Saturday, January 4th
To practice mindfulness may be on many people’s New Year’s resolution lists. It’s a good way to connect with oneself and really take in what is happening and what one feels in the moment. It can be difficult to start, but luckily you can learn more about mindfulness and put it into practice this Saturday! Kristina Reese of Hatha Yoga will be leading a Mindful Hike from 10 a.m. to noon at Allerton Park. Take a morning to connect with nature and yourself! Learn more about the event by following this link! Tickets also include a cup of hot cocoa from Greenhouse Cafe!
